Waste Medicines, Waste Money

Did you know, in South Staffordshire we wasted medicines which cost the
NHS over £5 million last year?

That could be:

  • 800 more hip replacements
  • 560 more heart by-pass operations
  • 5,600 more cataract operations
  • 120 more community nurses
  • 720 more knee replacements

We are currently running a campaign to reduce the waste of prescription medicines.

So we need your help:

  • Check what medication you already have before re-ordering
  • Only tick items you really need
  • If you don’t need a medicine now – don’t order it this time. It will still appear on your next repeat re-ordering form
  • If you don’t need a medication or you don’t want to take your medication anymore, tell your doctor
  • If you have any enquires about your prescription please speak to your GP or your pharmacist
  • Click here to view paracetamol request guidance
