Proxy Access

A Proxy user is someone who can manage parts of another person’s online record on their behalf, such as ordering repeat prescriptions, booking/cancelling appointments and viewing parts of their medical record.

We usually ask that someone who wishes to be a Proxy for someone else has their own online access account – they are then able to login to that account and switch the view to the person/people for whom they are a Proxy.

Examples of when Proxy access may be granted:

  • For a child under the age of 11
  • If an adult patient over 16 does not have capacity to manage their own online account
  • Adults in the same household who share an e-mail address

Unfortunately, we are unable to grant Proxy access for most children aged 11-16. A lot can change between the ages of 11 and 16 and there is a need for procedures and processes to be in place to protect the child’s right to confidentiality, should the need arise.

We have therefore made the decision to stop Proxy access for children between the ages of 11 and 16. You can still order prescription requests in writing and, for repeat prescription items, you can set up re-ordering through a pharmacy which offers this service – both Alrewas& Fradley pharmacies offer this option.

If there are special circumstances which you feel warrant Proxy access for a child in the 11-16 age group, please complete the Proxy form and provide the appropriate details.
